Frequently Asked Questions
🛑 What happens if I cancel my ride?
You can cancel for free anytime up to 24 hours before your scheduled ride. Cancellations within 24 hours — or no-shows — will be charged in full. Please cancel early if your plans change so we can keep things running smoothly.
👯 Can I bring friends with me?
Yes! You can bring up to 3 guests with you if you book a “Ride for Me.” Just make sure they follow our rider expectations too — kindness, seatbelts, and no messes, please.
💸 Why was I charged even though I wasn’t picked up?
If you weren’t at the pickup spot within 5 minutes of your scheduled time and we couldn’t reach you, the ride is considered a no-show and is charged in full. We recommend being ready a few minutes early.
🚫 Can I get banned from booking rides?
We really hope not! But we may refuse future service if a rider (or their guest) acts in a way that’s unsafe, disrespectful, or against our core values. That includes harassment, unsafe behavior, or violating our booking policies.
💳 What if my payment doesn’t go through?
We try to authorize your card before the ride and charge it after. If the charge fails, we’ll contact you to sort it out. Repeat payment issues may lead to suspended booking privileges.
🧾 How do shared rides work?
“Ride with Others” is a discounted ride option, but only if we can match you with another rider going a similar direction. If we can’t find a match, you’ll be charged the standard rate instead. You’ll be notified before we confirm.
🧼 What’s this $250 mess fee about?
If someone makes a major mess — like bodily fluids, spilled food or drink, or trash all over the car — we charge a $250 cleaning fee. This keeps things fair for everyone and helps your driver keep the car fresh.
👀 Am I being recorded?
Possibly, yes. Our vehicle may use audio and video dash cams to keep riders and drivers safe. Recordings are used only for safety, training, or dispute resolution and handled according to our Privacy Policy.
🔑 What happens to stuff I leave behind?
We’ll do our best to return lost items for a $20 return fee. Items not claimed within 7 days may be discarded or donated.
👩✈️ Are Moonlight Saferides drivers employees?
Not currently. Our drivers are independent contractors, not employees — which means they set their own hours and work on a flexible basis. That said, we’re building toward a cooperative model in the future where drivers have a real stake in the business and a say in how it runs.
